Setting a weekly play budget and sticking to it
#1
Newer to this and I want to do it right from the start instead of digging out later.

Here is what I landed on. I give myself 25 dollars a week for Gold Coin purchases, max. That is my entertainment line, same bucket as if I went to a movie and dinner. When it is gone it is gone, I do not top up mid week no matter what.

The part I am still working out is the Sweeps Coins side. When I actually redeem some SC for cash, do you all roll that back into next weeks budget, or keep it totally separate so you can see real net?

I lean toward keeping redemptions separate. Feels like if I fold winnings back into play money I will just lie to myself about how I am doing.

Curious how the veterans here handle the line between play budget and what comes back out. Trying to keep this fun and not turn it into a hole.

Keep it to what you can afford to lose, that is the whole game for me.

Keep them separate. You already answered your own question and your instinct is right.

The second you treat a redemption as house money you stop counting it as your money, and that is exactly when budgets quietly stop existing. Cash out, send it to your regular bank account, let it leave the ecosystem.

25 a week with a hard no-topup rule is genuinely sensible. The topup is what gets people. Not the initial budget, the I will just add ten more.

Write the weekly number somewhere you see it. Sounds silly, works.

Mine is monthly not weekly because I redeem in batches, but same idea.

I keep a little note on my phone. Two columns. In is what I spent on GC, out is what I redeemed and how long the ACH took. End of month I subtract. Some months are negative, that is the cost of entertainment and I made peace with it.

The separate bucket thing matters because redemption is not instant. By the time the cash hits, three to five days later, the urge to replay it has usually passed anyway.

honestly mah, I do small numbers so my budget is more like ten a week and I mostly play the free Sweeps you get from logging in.

slots are my thing and they eat coins fast so the limit keeps me honest. when I hit a redemption minimum I just take it, dont chase a bigger one.

you are overthinking it a tiny bit but in a good way. better than me when I started, I had no plan at all.

Solid thread. One add from me as far as keeping it clean.

Most of the sites have deposit limit tools built in. Set the weekly cap inside the account too, not just in your head. That way the topup temptation is blocked at the source, you physically cannot add more once you hit it.

Belt and suspenders. Your phone note tracks reality, the in-site limit enforces it. Doing both is the whole answer.
